25 Things I Learned in 2025 About Building Profitable Offers Online
It's officially the end of the year 😅, and while reflecting on everything I've learned feels overwhelming (especially since I can't remember what I ate for breakfast), I'm sharing the top things that have made the biggest difference.
If you're a BCBA trying to scale beyond trading time for money, or a therapist wondering how to monetize your clinical expertise online, these lessons are for you.
Want to finally cross "Start an online business" off your list in 2026? Do something for you. Join our community or download a freebie and get to work! Our Clinical Boss Academy starts in January for members only, and walks you through a 5-part accelerator, from idea to profitable offer in 90 days.

1. Understanding ROI: The Foundation of Business Growth
Return on investment is the most powerful concept you can understand in business. Those who are accelerating their growth? They pay for it in time, money, or freedom in the short-run but get what they want so much faster. Don't stand on the sidelines making excuses.
Excuses are rarely valid - they're a product of your fear.
2. Mindset Matters More Than Your Clinical Degree
Limiting beliefs crush more dreams than lack of knowledge. Stop consuming more information and find a mentor or community to challenge your thoughts and mindset. You didn't need another course on your specialty area (you're already an expert) - you need someone to call out the stories you're telling yourself about why you can't succeed.
3. Clarity Converts: How to Sell Your Offers Online
The only way to make sales consistently is to get SUPER CLEAR.
Clear on what you offer, clear on who you serve, clear on your own goals.
Most offers fail because of MARKETING, not the value of the offer. Your clinical expertise is valuable. Your training is legitimate. But if no one understands how you help them, they won't buy. Your offer isn't generic, your marketing is.
4. Authenticity in Your Online Clinical Business
You don't have to be "business-y" to have a successful business. Your clinical voice, your therapeutic approach, your genuine care for clients - these ARE your brand. Stop trying to sound like a corporate consultant when you're a heart-centered clinician.
5. Stop Perfecting, Start Connecting
You're wasting time making things PRETTY instead of valuable. That guide redesign can wait. That perfectly branded workbook can wait. Your dream clients need your help NOW, not when everything looks Instagram-perfect.
6. Email Marketing for Therapists and Clinical Entrepreneurs
You don't need an offer to grow an email list. Start building your list today by sharing valuable clinical insights, free resources, or mini-trainings that showcase your expertise.
If you're not already building and growing an email list, you are unintentionally slowing down your business. Social media platforms can disappear or change algorithms overnight. Your email list? That's yours forever.
7. Scaling Beyond the Clinical Hour
If you're adding more hours to your week to earn more, you're doing it wrong. There are only so many therapy sessions you can provide, only so many evaluations you can complete. Your time is finite.
Leveraging your clinical expertise into a course or coaching program is the NUMBER ONE way to multiply your impact and income (yes, even ahead of private practice). One group program can serve 20 clients at once. One course can help hundreds. Same expertise, exponential impact.
8. Competition and Comparison for Online Therapists
Watching what others are doing is killing your creativity and joy. There's room for every BCBA, every SLP, every therapist who wants to build something meaningful online. Stop stalking competitors and start serving clients.
You're not competing on OFFER quality, you're competing on MESSAGING. Ten therapists can offer parent coaching, but the one who articulates the transformation most clearly will win every time.
9. The Visibility Game: Building an Online Presence as a Clinician
In the beginning, visibility and reach is ALWAYS more important than revenue. If no one knows you exist, no one can hire you. Focus on getting your message in front of more people before obsessing over your fee.
10. Investment in Your Clinical Business
If you don't get support, systems, and strategy to sell your offer RIGHT, it will take you 10x longer by yourself (and most people will give up). I've watched countless talented clinicians spin their wheels for years trying to figure it out alone.
Alternatively, if you invest in yourself and your dreams, you'll skyrocket your growth and pass up everyone trying to piece things together. Hiring a business coach for therapists or joining a mastermind for clinical entrepreneurs isn't an expense—it's an accelerator.
11. Validation Before Creation
Building your offer before validating is the best way to waste time (ONLY after scrolling social media). Talk to potential clients. Pre-sell your program. Make sure people actually want what you're creating before you spend six months building it.
12. Focus: The Secret Weapon of Successful Entrepreneurs
Learning is good until it's not. If you have multiple mentors, multiple unfinished courses, multiple paths you're trying to take, you'll add YEARS to your success. Pick one strategy, one mentor, one path - and commit until it works.
13. Niche Down to Scale Up
When you talk and sell to everyone, you talk and sell to NO ONE. "I help kids with special needs" isn't specific enough. "I help parents of newly diagnosed autistic toddlers navigate the first 90 days after diagnosis" creates immediate connection.
14. Achievement is NOT the Same as Alignment
You don't need a new degree or certification. Many clinicians only join programs that are validating, hold status, and feel comfortable. These paths don't always align with your long-term goals and most don't even teach you the skills you need to achieve your dream outcome. Consider what you want and seek the skills to get there.
15. Done is Better Than Perfect
Stick to the essentials and get your offer out there so you can start gathering feedback and making it better. Stop waiting for everything to be perfect before launching.
16. Passive Income for Clinicians Isn't Passive
Passive income is possible AND it requires active upfront work. To earn enough income to enjoy more freedom, you need a sales engine and a proven strategy.
17. Group Programs are Underutilized
Stop repeating yourself over and over. Find a problem you love to solve and create a group program to teach the solution. My first 5-figure offer? A program that over 100 clinicians have now gone through. Everyone learns the same framework, your coaching and guidance help them apply it.
18. You Can Serve Clients Ethically Online
The path may look different, but it's still ethical. Don't let others' fear mongering and criticism stop you from multiplying your impact and income online. People need the value you can give.
19. You're Probably Pricing Your Services Too Low
We all have a natural fear of underdelivering. Instead of being honest about the value we provide, we lower the price of our offers to help ourselves feel more comfortable. Undercharge and you'll attract bargain-hunters and fence-sitters instead of the people who will actually ACT on the value you provide.
20. You Need More Social Proof
What's the first thing you do when you are about to buy something on Amazon? Check the reviews. Social proof will be one of your most powerful marketing tools in online business. Have a strategy for collecting and sharing testimonials.
21. You're Only Scared Because of THIS
You're only scared because you're in your head instead of taking action. If you want to get better at ANYTHING this year: public speaking, selling, marketing - you need to get your reps in. You'll be surprised how fluent and comfortable you get if you just.keep.going.
22. You'll Never Be the Best
Ugh, I know. It's a painful truth to hear for a Type A perfectionist but someone will always be better than you. If you're waiting to put an offer out there because you want to "be the best" at what you do, it will never happen. But that's also not how value is shared. If everyone only did what they were best at, we'd miss out on a TON of value.
23. You're Further Along Than Most People
And while #22 is still true, it's also true that YOU (yes, you) are further along than MOST people. If you're reading this blog, if you're putting in the work, if you're taking steps toward your dream, you're doing it. And the saddest part of celebrating a new year? Feeling like you didn't live the last to its fullest.
24. Quitting Happens When You Stop Taking Action
Even if you FEEL like you're doing something, you may not be. I spent years reading, learning, and consuming information and I was tricking my brain into thinking consumption = progress but until I started creating, I wasn't actually going anywhere or achieving anything.
25. The #1 Way to Multiply Your Impact and Income
The #1 way to multiply your impact and income is to create a digital offer: a CEU, course, or coaching program that serves AND scales. If your impact and income is limited by the direct hours you work, your potential is capped - and if you're here, you want to shatter that ceiling.
The Path Forward for Your Online Business
Building a profitable online business as a therapist, BCBA, SLP, or clinical professional isn't about abandoning your clinical roots. It's about leveraging your hard-earned expertise to help more people while creating the income and freedom you deserve.
You've spent years mastering your clinical skills. Now it's time to master the business skills that will let you share that expertise with the world.
The question isn't whether you're capable of building a successful online clinical business. The question is: will you invest in yourself enough to make it happen?
Cheers to a new year, and to every clinical entrepreneur brave enough to build something beyond the traditional clinical model.
